Recipe: Garlic Spears
June 5, 2007 in recipe, vegetable
This was the first time I have ever seen Garlic Spears. The most exciting part is that my parents and husband bought this new vegetable – and prepared it – without any input from me! In fact – I wasn’t even in the general vicinity until the veggie appeared at the house and on my plate. Delight!
Apparently a garlic spear is what pokes up as a head of elephant garlic grows. They have the loveliest light flavor, generally described as a cross between an asparagus and artichoke. Every single person at the table loved these veggie spears – if you see them, I highly recommend you try some!
Ingredients:
- 1 bunch of garlic spears
- butter
- lemon
- Set a pan on the stove to steam the spears. Steam for approximately 5-10 minutes or until nicely softened.
- Remove from steam then dress lightly with butter and fresh lemon.
- Could that be easier???
