Welcome to The Whole Wheat!

This blog started over 5 years ago – and things sure were different for me back then!

When I started this blog:

  • my husband, Brad, and I lived in San Francisco
  • I didn’t have any kids
  • I had a LOT of leisure time to cook
  • I had a lot of adult friends to come eat what I cooked

These days:

  • I live in Colleyville, Texas (this is in the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex)
  • I have 2 kids! A 3-year old daughter Margaux, and a 1-year old son Spencer
  • I have very LITTLE time to cook!
  • And what I cook my kids often whine about, or throw on the floor – depending on their age

One important thing hasn’t changed though – I still love to cook! I love having friends and family over and sharing good food with people. While I may not have access to all the amazing things I had access to in San Francisco, we are finding our way around Texas pretty well. And there are all new ingredients to explore!

For the record, I grew up in San Antonio so Texas isn’t a foreign place for me, but a home coming of sorts. Our little family just moved in 2011 so we are still unpacking boxes, navigating new stores, and trying to find farmer’s markets & CSAs to replace our well loved San Francisco spots.

The focus of this blog will be a constant evolution based on all the changes in my life. Learning how to feed picky toddlers with wholesome food is always an adventure. So join along as we settle into our new life in Texas, find new sources of sustainably farmed food, and continue learning how to eat as a growing family.
